On Saturday, January 19, 2019, Pillars Community Health hosted its annual Ball at the Oak Brook Hills Hilton Resort in Oak Brook, IL. The Ball brought together 400 area residents as well as 45 volunteers to celebrate and support our mission. Together our supporters helped raise $287,000 to support our many programs. We also debuted a video at the event reminding supporters to remember the power of one individual or one organization to drive change.
“At a time when many societal issues are bubbling to the surface—spiking rates of suicide, vast reports of sexual assault, the opioid epidemic, high costs of health care, and so on—we want people to know that change starts when one person or one organization decides to do something about it,” says Angela Curran, JD, LLM, president and CEO. “Seeing so many new and long-time reporters come together in support of our services was a great reminder that the collective efforts of individuals can create a healthier, stronger community.”
In addition to a program focused on the mission of the organization, attendees enjoyed dinner, dancing, raffles, a live band, and casino-style gaming. The live auction offered opportunities to give back and win something to take home, such as tickets to see Billy Joel in Colorado or to attend a taping of The Voice in Los Angeles. For $100, participants were able to try their luck in our Golden Ticket raffle which included only 100 chances to win a weeklong stay at a private home in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. One lucky attendee, Anne Mudd, won an instant wine cellar with 50 bottles of premium wines donated by community members.
