PAIP Facilitator

SUMMARY
Facilitates the PAIP group curriculum and discussions with persons who use violence against their intimate partners and were referred by the court, child welfare agencies, or themselves.   The goals and focus of the group are to increase accountability, learn non-violent alternatives for conflict resolution, and to develop healthier relationships.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Conducts intake/assessments with persons self-referred or referred by another entity, including but not limited to the legal system, child welfare agency, etc. Attends in-person domestic violence court, as needed.
  • Co-facilitates weekly Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) group(s) with persons who use violence against their intimate partner(s). Participants will attend groups voluntarily or will be mandated by associated referrals.
  • Identifies group goals and then facilitates group discussions (in-person and/or virtual) for persons that use violence against their intimate partners, that includes but is not limited to increasing participant accountability, using non-violent alternatives for conflict resolution, and to develop healthier relationships. The group is developed with the understanding that domestic violence is a learned behavior in which partners exert power and control tactics over others.
  • Facilitates groups with the Pillars Community Health provided PAIP curriculum, which conceptualizes intimate partner violence as power and control issue within the relations
  • Provides crisis intervention for clients as needed throughout the duration of services.
  • De-escalates conflicts and hostile situations between group members and facilitators.
  • Maintains frequent case-related contacts with participant referral source, including but not limited to legal system and child welfare agency.
  • Updates the participant’s partner on attendance and compliancewith the PAIP group
  • Provides limited individual follow-up services (Women’s group, LGBTQ group)
  • With the victim service provider, conducts monthly orientation for partners of participants.
  • Documents all direct service in accordance with program policy and procedures which can include intake/assessments, group documentation forms/notes, and third-party contact information.
  • Collects fee for service from participants.
  • Informs each client of their rights and responsibilities.
  • Refer clients to outside resources as appropriate.
  • In consultation with the supervisor, reports suspected and reported abuse to vulnerable populations to Illinois Department of Children and Family Services or Adult Protective Services
  • Completes case and statistical recordings, and other required reports and record keeping for assigned clients.
  • Complies with agency and program funding requirements such as administrative/statistical reporting including submitting direct service reports and timecards in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in supervision and professional development programs or training as required by PCH policy or licensing standards.
  • Participates in department, program, line of service, and organizational meetings, as required.
  • Responsible for completing position and organizational required trainings, and staying informed of all policies, procedures and regulations which apply to the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in human services, psychology, or social work required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree if it has included education/experience in group facilitation.

Education and/or experience working with domestic violence clients required.  Education and/or experience in group facilitation required.

Illinois 40-hour Domestic Violence training and IL 20-hour PAIP training required to be completed within first month of employment, provided by Pillars Community Health

A special interest in gender equity and trauma informed care is required.

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to cultural humility in direct service with clients and interpersonal relationships with colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the intimate partner violence field, including an understanding of work with survivors and perpetrators.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the systemic and individual impacts of gender inequity and trauma.

OTHER

Must maintain a safe driving record and have current valid Illinois Driver’s License. Personal vehicle needed for transportation to/from PCH sites and courthouses in the communities PCH serves. Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.

SCHEDULE
Facilitators are currently needed for Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings for both group times and assessments.

  • Tuesday: 9am-1pm
  • Thursday: 4:00pm-8:00pm 

Groups

In the future we are looking to add another evening group depending on the participant volume and need.

Current Group Times:

  • Tuesday from 10:00am-12:00pm:  2-3 Participants in morning Group.
  • Thursday evening: 6:00pm-8:00pm:  8-9 Participants in evening group.

The program need is in an evening group, and we may need to add an additional evening day.

Court House Travel/ Times/ PAIP Outreach

Court House times: (Travel between the courthouses Maybrook and Bridgeview) – The need for outreach depends on the level of referrals. Currently our referrals are coming in through Social Services and Probation/Contract, which have increased. Our referrals at the moment are high.

  • Monday: 9:00am – 1:00pm- This can be adjusted as needed
  • Wednesday: 9:00am – 1:00pm- This can be adjusted as needed.

PAIP Team meetings: Virtual

  • Fridays: 10:30am -11:30am

PAY & BENEFIT INFORMATION

$19.50 – $23.50
