Community Outreach Associate (Bilingual-Spanish/English)

SUMMARY

Assists the Manager of Community Outreach with day-to-day activities for the department, and the efforts that support the goals and strategic plans of the External Affairs team.  Provides support with outreach activities and events for Behavioral Health and Health Center programs. Provides administrative support on organizational outreach needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes and maintains a community outreach calendar and works with the Manager to coordinate representation at the events.
  • Registers PCH for events, contacts event hosts or organizers to secure details/logistics for attendance, adds event details to Community Outreach Tracker, tracks community attendance numbers, materials used, contact information, etc. Follows up with event hosts or organizations after events; updates contact information as needed.
  • Gathers PCH collateral, information, and program materials from Marketing to provide information to the community, partners, associations, supporters, etc. about PCH services.
  • Provides outreach information through various methods of communication, including, one-on-one interactions, outreach and education events, e-mail, marketing materials, etc.
  • Assists Manager with conducting general outreach presentations on Pillars Community Health services.
  • Provides representation for PCH at designated community outreach events.
  • Assists Manager with event logistics and administrative activities at events (sign-in sheets, setting up, preparing presentation materials, providing support during presentations, etc.)
  • Ensures that promotional booth and community fair tablecloths and signage are in good condition and available for all events.
  • Prepares outreach bags for events, distributes and/or coordinates the delivery of materials, and processes the return of swag and promotional materials after each event, keeping track of what is on hand and what has been distributed.
  • Assists departments with submitting the request for replenishing of outreach materials.
  • Assists Manager and VP with regular administrative needs, position, and departmental projects.
  • Attends all meetings as required.
  • Participate in departmental and company meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health, Health Education, Behavioral Health, or other closely related healthcare focus.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree. Community outreach experience is required.  FQHC background or experience in community health setting highly preferred. Experience with public speaking and conducting presentations is required.

  • Ability to work within a team environment.

OTHER

Must maintain a safe driving record and have a current valid Illinois Driver’s License.  Personal vehicle needed for travel into the community for outreach work, meetings, and events.  Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.

LANGUAGE

Bilingual fluency in Spanish/English required as presentations are often conducted in Spanish and English.

SCHEDULE:

This position requires one to have flexibility to work evenings and Saturdays for community events.
