Fall, Friends, and Philanthropy: Celebrating Community and Support at Pillars Community Health

At Pillars Community Health (PCH), we know that our strength lies in the heart of our community. Each year, we take time to show our gratitude to the supporters who empower us to fulfill our mission.

This year’s stewardship event, “Fall, Friends, and Philanthropy,” held on Thursday, September 22, 2024, in the newly renovated Clubhouse at La Grange Country Club, gathered volunteers, donors, and community members with a shared passion: improving the health of our communities and empowering individuals through compassionate, whole-person care.

Board Chairperson Alexandra Normington opened the evening with heartfelt praise for PCH’s frontline staff, commending their dedication to providing care, especially for those who are uninsured or underinsured. Alex emphasized her personal connection to PCH and the vital work we do to enhance access to comprehensive care across the region.

PCH President and CEO Angela Curran followed, beginning her remarks by recognizing the Board and staff in attendance. She shared highlights from the All-Staff meeting held earlier that day, where staff members were celebrated for their unwavering commitment to our mission and their role in driving PCH’s impact.

Angela then provided updates on recent projects, including the much-anticipated renovation and reopening of our domestic violence shelter, Constance Morris House, and the grand opening of our integrated health center at 321 N. La Grange Rd. in La Grange Park. These milestones, made possible by community support, are more than just physical expansions—they symbolize our collective dedication to breaking down barriers to care. By integrating physical, behavioral, and oral health services, and providing access to essential social services all under one roof, this new site reflects our commitment to ensuring that individuals and families can easily access the care they need, when they need it most.

At each guest’s place setting was a brochure detailing PCH’s strategic plan laying the foundation for our vision from 2025 to 2027. The plan fostered a deeper understanding of PCH’s new challenges while inspiring excitement for the innovative steps we are taking to meet the health needs of our community.

Angela’s passion for PCH’s future resonated throughout the room, encouraging attendees to share their personal stories of involvement. Many stood to speak about their own journeys with PCH or one of its predecessor organizations, reflecting on their commitment to our mission. These stories of support and connection fueled the room, as guests encouraged one another to continue or begin their volunteer journeys, emphasizing that everyone plays a crucial role in PCH’s strategic vision and future success.

As Angela concluded her remarks, she looked ahead with optimism, affirming that our strategic plan will continue to guide us in addressing our community’s health needs. Together, with the ongoing support of our donors and volunteers, we remain committed to improving the lives of those we serve through compassionate, whole-person care.

Thank you to all who attended “Fall, Friends, and Philanthropy.” Your partnership drives the mission of Pillars Community Health, and together, we will continue to build a healthier, more empowered community.
