Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Learn how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in young people ages 12–18. This free, nationally certified class includes 2 hours of online pre-work followed by an in-person session. Lunch provided.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.

By the end of this class, you will be able to…

  • Confidently have a supportive conversation with a young person about mental health or substance use challenges.
  • Apply the ALGEE action plan in pre-crisis scenarios to connect a young person to professional & self-help resources
  • Identify common signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge
  • and so much more

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD)
  • Eating disorders
  • Substance use

Join us for this free blended class that requires 2 hours of online pre-work.

Important Information:

  • Completion of the online pre-work is required to attend the instructor-led session.

  • Instructors may deny entry if the pre-work is not completed.

  • A minimum of five participants is required by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to hold a class.

  • Instructors may cancel the class if fewer than five participants are present. Registrants will be notified in advance if a class is canceled due to low enrollment.
