On Saturday, February 1, 2020, we hosted our annual Pillars Community Health Ball at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. The Ball brought together 315 area residents as well as 40 volunteers, 80 auction and raffle donors, and 39 sponsors including local businesses and community leaders. Together they helped raise $242,000 to support the organization’s programs. We also debuted a video at the event about the turning points patients and clients have experienced on the road to recovery and improved health.
“So many of our community members face significant challenges every day, whether you’re a survivor of domestic violence or sexual assault, recovering from substance abuse, caring for a child with a disability, addressing mental illness with a teenager, confronting a new chronic medical condition, or something else,” says Angela Curran, JD, LLM, president and CEO. “It was so great to see so many new and long-time supporters come together to support their fellow community members who are trying to make change for themselves and their families.”
In addition to a program focused on the mission of the organization, attendees enjoyed dinner, a live band, and casino-style gaming. Judy Hsu of ABC7 News served as Master of Ceremonies. A live auction offered opportunities to give back and win something to take home, such as a getaway to Denver or a 7-night stay in Mexico. For a $100 chance, one lucky attendee won the Golden Ticket Raffle, which included only 120 chances to win a 3-night stay in New Orleans. Another lucky attendee won the Stock Your Bar Raffle, which included 28 bottles of premium spirits and wine donated by community members. The event was organized by Pillars Community Health’s 2020 Ball Committee, led by co-chairs Paula Horvath and Becky Spratford of La Grange.
