Outpatient/School Based Therapist

SUMMARY:

Provides short term school-based services for students attending Riverside Brookfield High School. Provides outpatient mental health assessment and treatment services to a caseload of clients in the office or in the community depending on the needs of the clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide brief therapy services for students of Riverside Brookfield High School in collaboration with school personnel such as school social workers and counselors.
  2. Provide crisis intervention services to students and families of Riverside Brookfield High School in collaboration with school personnel and as per contract and program needs. Collaborate with Mobile Crisis Team as needed.
  3. Provide crisis stabilization treatment using brief therapy model as needed until situation has been resolved or client can be assigned to appropriate agency program.
  4. Provides individual, family, or group therapy to a caseload of clients as determined by program needs.
  5. Completes mental health assessments in order to formulate an accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment interventions to serve identified client and family.
  6. Determines frequency, duration and intensity of treatment, and develops treatment plans.
  7. Assesses and stabilizes high risk individuals and/or families.
  8. Works in collaboration with other agency programs and staff.
  9. Coordinates with other community agencies and organizations such as DCFS, schools, hospitals, other providers in the community.
  10. Provides case management services as defined in the service plan that coordinate, support and advocate for clients who need multiple services and require assistance in gaining access to and in using mental health, social, vocational, educational, child welfare, and other community services and resources.
  11. Responds to clients and/or family needs outside of regularly scheduled session times.
  12. Monitors and supports services provided by psychiatrist.
  13. Maintains records in accordance with agency policies and complete required outcomes protocols while meeting established productivity standards.
  14. Prepares reports as needed for agency funders relevant to the position.
  15. Participates in agency meetings and in-services.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related degree. 2 years experience working with adolescents and their families preferred. Related experience should include individual counseling work with adolescents and their families, crisis intervention, assessment, case management, brief treatment, and home and community-based interventions. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with consumers, referrals sources, and other community providers is absolutely essential. Flexibility and ability to think independently are also valuable traits.

OTHER

Must maintain a safe driving record and have current valid Illinois Driver’s License. Personal vehicle needed for transportation to/from home, school and community-based interventions. Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.
