Director of Mental Health Therapy Services

** This is a NEW leadership position in our Behavioral Health programs as part of our Strategic Plan.  It will be a hybrid position based at our office in Berwyn, IL. **

SUMMARY:

This position is accountable for day-to-day operations management and success of the Mental Health therapy programs in the Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) and the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

The Director will be responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to implement a Team-Based Model of Care, to maintain efficiencies and effectiveness in procedures, meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements, ensuring achievement of client contact hours, and meeting other key performance indicators established for the Mental Health therapy services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Responsibilities include the direct day-to-day management of service area components maintaining compliance with program/service goals including but not limited to the following: client access and case assignments management, discharge process, skill development, oversight of staff’s productivity of client contact hours, caseload expectations, documentation, and concerns relating to coverage.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a Team-Based Model of Care and ensures ongoing collaboration across services and functions. Team-Based Care will address and improve client care needs through coordinated efforts across different settings and disciplines throughout the organization.
  • Participates in program design and development to meet the goals of Pillars Community Health’s Strategic Plan and the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Participates in planning process with Vice President of Behavioral Health, Chief Program Officer, and Chief Population Health Officer for program development, resource deployment and utilization, community linkages.
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance, providing coaching and development (inclusive of providing clinical support, clinical and administrative supervision for direct service work) to enhance professional development and ensure quality services, addressing concerns and resolving problems, and completing administrative documentation as required by the position.
  • Participates in CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) process, overseeing adherence to protocols and goals and objectives set forth in CQI program for current year.
  • Responsible for ensuring documentation requirements and standards are maintained in accordance with Rule 132/140, HRSA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in regular leadership meetings to review and evaluate overall staff and program performance goals and objectives.
  • Addresses and implements appropriate action for quality-of-care concerns, staff concerns, client complaints, and department concerns.
  • Provides clinical oversight within the scope of the clinical license/certification.
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing staff protocols; ensures existing protocols are updated and trains staff accordingly.
  • Ensures staff attendance at staff meetings as well as all other required meetings including consultation meetings, periodic team meetings, weekly supervision, and any other organizational required meetings.
  • Completes regular program evaluations and inter-agency communication to ensure that the program continues to achieve objectives effectively.
  • Provides crisis support to clinics as needed (Crises should take priority over regular sessions)
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field required.  Clinical License required (LCSW/LCPC/LMFT).  Experience providing clinical and administrative supervision required.  Experience working as a program administrator or coordinator is also required.

Experience leading an interdisciplinary team in behavioral healthcare (ex: case managers, therapists, peer specialists) is strongly preferred.  Two (2) years of experience in mental health, community-based services, social work, or counseling required with experiences working with clients living with serious mental illness (SMI), with serious emotional disturbance (SED), with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders (COD), or chronic health conditions.
