Bilingual Intake Case Manager for Access & Referral


Completes client intake screenings/assessments for access to agency programs such as but not limited to mental health, substance use disorder, sexual assault and domestic violence services.


  1. Answers incoming intake calls.  Returns intake messages within 24 hours.
  2. Completes intake screenings & assessments for Pillars’ programs currently part of centralized intake.
  3. Uses assessment outcome scores to determine most appropriate level of care for clients
  4. Provides resources for callers that are not able to be served within Pillars’ Program and assists them in making community connections.
  5. Conducts initial benefit check for those who have Medicaid and Managed Medicaid plans.
  6. Gathers and inputs data into electronic department records in according to department needs.
  7. Maintains various logs and electronic client records in accordance with department and agency policies.
  8. Outreaches to clients and maintains all logs and tracking systems according to department needs
  9. Collaborates with other intake staff in processing client requests for service.
  10. Works in collaboration with all Directors and staff of various Programs
  11. Participates in agency meetings, in-services, monthly department meetings, and weekly staff meetings.
  12. Coordinates with other community agencies and organizations such as DCFS, schools, hospitals, and other providers in the community as required.
  13. Gains knowledge on the different public and private insurance coverage accepted within the agency.
  14. Gains understanding of mandated reporting laws and ability to identify when they apply and how to act on them under guidance of supervisor.
  15. May represent Pillars Community Health at external service fairs promoting services
  16. May provide support in the community to help outreach and engage individuals to participate in services.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or related field required.  Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree (ex. high school diploma with experience in providing mental health services).

At least six (6) months experience in human services or equivalent combination of training and experience.  Customer service experience required. Intermediate computer skills required.  High School Diploma will be considered with equivalent experience.


Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish) and be able to communicate well verbally and in writing in both languages.


Seeking candidate with a positive, caring and compassionate attitude toward mental health and those with mental illness. Must also be able to problem solve and make quick decisions during intake calls.


Scheduling is based on needs of the department and includes some evening hours.
