In collaboration with the Vice President of Behavioral Health, the Behavioral Health Supervisor will have responsibilities in both the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder programs. Provides day to day supervision and oversight to the Substance Use Disorder program and staff while also working as a direct service provider in the Behavioral Health Line of Service. Practices with an integrated care and whole person perspective that focuses on co-occurring disorders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- In collaboration with the VP of Behavioral Health, hires and trains new staff; plans, assigns, and directs work; provides supervision and consultation to support and broaden staff skill levels, evaluates staff performance, provides coaching and development, addresses concerns and resolves problems, and manages employee timecards and PTO requests.
- Ensures staff complete all agency required paperwork and documentation for all clients.
- Coordinates department coverage, reviews and approves staff time off, ensuring groups are covered and other issues as they arise. May provide coverage in absence of staff to ensure continuation of services.
- Assists with all aspects of treatment delivery, including compliance with general SUPR/Rule 2060/CARF guidelines and specific program requirements. Ensures overall compliance with funder and contract requirements regarding targeted client numbers, client hours, and adherence to program standards.
- Participates in training new SUDS staff on program operations; this includes documentation, scheduling, quality assurance standards, etc.
- Completes required reports as assigned by the VP.
- Participates in CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) process as assigned by the VP; Facilitates quarterly UR review for program.
- Works with the VP to ensure efficient client flow process, including the intake appointment process, assessment to treatment timelines, and problem solves any issues that arise.
- Coordinates with Access & Referral, Coordinator of Benefits & Authorizations, and other departments as needed.
- Adheres to and delivers services in compliance with all agency and funder requirements, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for staying informed of all policies, procedures and regulations which may apply to the position.
- Coordinates with other program Supervisors, Coordinators and Directors as needed.
- May supervise student intern(s).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Direct Service responsibilities
- Provides individual, family, or group therapy to a caseload of clients as determined by program needs. Provides services via telehealth, on-site, in-homes, and on-site at community partners (including schools, police stations, etc) where appropriate
- Completes IM+CANS assessments to formulate an accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment interventions to serve the identified client and family.
- Determines frequency, duration, and intensity of treatment, and develops treatment plans.
- Assesses and stabilizes high risk individuals and/or families.
- Works in collaboration with other agency programs and staff.
- Coordinates with other community agencies and organizations such as DCFS, schools, hospitals, other providers in the community.
- Provides case management services as defined in the service plan that coordinate, support, and advocate for clients who need multiple services and require assistance in gaining access to and in using mental health, social, vocational, educational, child welfare, and other community services and resources.
- Responds to clients and/or family needs outside of regularly scheduled session times.
- Monitors and supports services provided by psychiatrist.
- Maintains records in accordance with agency policies and complete required outcomes protocols while meeting established productivity standards.
- Participates in program and agency meetings and in-services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in a supervisory or leadership role required. Candidate must be a QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) and have at least two (2) years of experience of direct service in substance use while using the ASAM Patient Placement Criteria. LCSW/LCPC/LMFT or CADC, CSADC or CAADC is highly preferred
* Rule 132: Qualified Mental Health Professional or QMHP − One of the following:
- A licensed social worker (LSW) possessing at least a master’s degree in social work and licensed under the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act [225 ILCS 20] with specialized training in mental health services or with at least 2 years of experience in mental health services;
- A licensed professional counselor (LPC) possessing at least a master’s degree and licensed under the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act [225 ILCS 107] with specialized training in mental health services or with at least two years of experience in mental health services;
- An individual possessing at least a master’s degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation counseling, social work, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, or family therapy or related field, who has successfully completed a practicum or internship that included a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised direct service in a mental health setting, or who has one year of clinical experience under the supervision of a QMHP.
- Any individual meeting the minimum credentials for a LPHA under this part is deemed to also meet the credentialing requirements of a QMHP.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are required. Must be able to provide direct service and written materials in both languages.
