But <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3142\" src=\"https:\/\/pillarscommunityhealth.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/DSC_0276-e1492026892562.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of a Pillars Community Health Client Accepting a Job\" width=\"250\" height=\"181\" \/>for others, work offers hope, a chance to improve self-esteem, a better of quality of life, and more financial independence. Employment can have a long-lasting, positive effect on people living with mental illness, addiction, a criminal background, and other demographics.<\/p>\n<p>To empower our community around this issue, we offer <a href=\"https:\/\/pillarscommunityhealth.org\/es\/services\/servicios-para-la-salud-del-comportamiento-y-de-apoyo\/servicios-de-empleo\/\"><strong>Individual Placement &amp; Support (IPS) Employment Services<\/strong><\/a> to adult clients with a diagnosis of severe mental illness who are unemployed or underemployed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAt Pillars, we believe that every person with a disability is capable of working competitively, if the right kind of job and environment can be found,\u201d says Jessica Fraider, coordinator of the IPS Employment Services.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fraider and her team help their clients search for, obtain, and maintain competitive jobs in the western and southwestern suburbs. That help is tailored and comprehensive, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establishing goals and developing a plan for getting a job<\/li>\n<li>Developing a resume and cover letter for each applicable job<\/li>\n<li>Developing presentations to employers and practicing interviewing skills<\/li>\n<li>Helping clients ask about job openings and network at job fairs<\/li>\n<li>Providing ongoing support to help clients maintain employment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In past years we have helped clients find employment at Brookfield Zoo, Mariano\u2019s, Oak Lawn Park District Ice Arena, and other places.
