Its name comes from an Italian Supreme Court case where a woman was raped, and the justice ruled against her, believing that it couldn\u2019t have been rape because she was wearing tight jeans. This harmful assumption led to women in the Italian Parliament wearing jeans in solidarity with survivors.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the organization Peace Over Violence created Denim Day as a global movement to challenge victim-blaming and support survivors.
