Therapist – The Loft at Eight Corners program

** This is a full-time position that works on-site at The Loft at Eight Corners.  The position schedule is Monday-Friday from 12 pm- 8pm.**
Based on the national living room program model, The Loft @ 8 Corners program is designed to engage teens in their mental health journey; to encourage teen voice to empower and advocate for their own services and family support. Program activities offer a continuum of individual, and group supports including screening, mental wellness education and skill building to equip teens and their families with strategies for support and self-management; crisis prevention, intervention and stabilization; and referrals to other resources as needed. A collaboration between Pillars Community Health and NAMI Metro Suburban, the program is located in Brookfield, IL.  The program is staffed by an interprofessional team including Recovery Support Specialists (young adults living well in their own mental health recovery), Family Support Specialists, and Mental Health Professionals.

 SUMMARY
Working collaboratively with PCH & NAMI program staff, this position is responsible for providing mental health screening and assessment, brief individual counseling and support, facilitation of group activities including educational and therapeutic support groups, and  crisis intervention services as needed.  This position will support the development, implementation and maintenance of program activities and curriculum based on identified needs of the community and teens utilizing the program services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts screening and assessments of program participants at the program site to help identify program activities and other resources that are available to the individual
  2. Facilitates or co-facilitates program activities including workshops, educational groups, and therapeutic group activities.
  3. Participate in the development of program curriculum and monthly activity calendars that support the program goals and mission and meets the identified needs of the program participants.
  4. Work collaboratively with all NAMI and PCH program staff to review and evaluate impact and effectiveness of program activities, measure outcomes, develop new or revise existing program activities
  5. Provide clinical support to Recovery Support Specialists (RSS) on site.
  6. Work with NAMI team members within the program model.
  7. Provides individual, family, or group counseling and interventions based on identified need
  8. Provides crisis intervention/mobile crisis response services to support program participants experiencing a crisis situation while at the program site.
  9. Provides case management to support, and advocate for program participants who may need additional services and supports through PCH, NAMI or another community-based organization.
  10. Works in collaboration with other Pillars Community Health programs and staff.
  11. Participates in community engagement and outreach activities that support education about The Loft at 8 Corners program, raise awareness of and access to mental health services for youth and families, and help evaluate needs of the community.
  12. Maintains records in accordance with agency policies and complete required outcomes protocols.
  13. Participates in agency meetings and in-services.
  14. Maintains compliance with all training and certification requirements

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related degree required.

Previous related experience should include work with young adults, adolescents or children and families.  Experience developing and facilitating group activities for youth, crisis services, or school-based services are preferred.
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with consumers, referrals sources, and other community providers is absolutely essential. Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter.  Candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent communication, decision making, organizational and planning skills.

OTHER
Must maintain a safe driving record and have current valid Illinois Driver’s License.  Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.
