Family Resource Developer

** 2 positions are available.  1 of the 2 positions requires staff to be Bilingual (English/Spanish). **

SUMMARY

The Family Resource Developer provides professional peer support services to and advocates for children and families, adults, and older adults across Pillars Community Health’s Mental Health programs and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with identified clients, staff and other team members to engage adults, families and caregivers in a service planning process that is team based, strength based and collaborative.
  2. Assists individuals and families in assessing needs across multiple domains and identifying supports available within the community.  Effectively links them to external and internal resources.
  3. Advocates for individuals and families in the community.
  4. Provides case management services as defined in the treatment plan.
  5. Contributes to the development of a consumer voice within Pillars Community Health.
  6. Provides crisis support to those in need in the community.  Assists consumers with food, clothing, furniture, housing, medical, and transportation resources.
  7. Transports and accompanies clients to necessary appointments to support and encourage further mental health recovery.
  8. Participates in community events to include health fairs, parent’s nights at local schools, and resource fairs.
  9. Maintains records in accordance with agency policies and completes required documents.
  10. Works with therapist to co-facilitate groups for Pillars Community Health’ clients.
  11. Responds to clients and/or family’s needs outside of the regularly scheduled session times, as needed.
  12. Participates in agency, state, and federal required trainings.
  13. Attends team meetings, supervision meetings and supervisory learning group meetings.
  14. Serves as a liaison between the agency and statewide and federal systems

QUALIFICATIONS   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred. Case management experience preferred.  Public speaking or presentation skills needed.  The Family Resource Developer requires one to have lived experience with mental health or substance use disorder services and/or has been the parent or guardian of a child that was a consumer in the social service system.

LANGUAGE

Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required for 1 of the 2 positions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Certification preferred.  (Certification obtained through the Illinois Certification Board)

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  1. Ability to work independently
  2. A passion for advocacy and caring for others in need.
  3. Willingness to draw from personal experiences and relate with other consumers and staff.
  4. Ability to set clear boundaries with clients and recognize appropriate time to share personal experiences
  5. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  6. Public speaking skills for presenting information to individuals and parents on mental health topics
  7. Basic writing and computer skills

OTHER

Must maintain a safe driving record and have current valid Illinois Driver’s License.  Personal vehicle needed.  FRD will transport clients and their belongings in their personal vehicle.  Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.
