Employment Services Coordinator

SUMMARY

The Employment Services Coordinator is responsible for providing oversight and supervision of the Employment Services program and staff, as well as services to clients in the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides direct supervision of Employment Specialists, including providing administrative and clinical support, supervision and consultation, evaluating skills of staff on an ongoing basis and completing annual performance appraisals.
  • Participates in hiring process for Employment Specialists.
  • Trains new employees on all aspects of the agency and program requirements, including procedures, documentation, scheduling, referral to other services, collaboration with other departments and staff, the IPS model and quality assurance standards.
  • Oversees all aspects of service delivery, including adherence to the IPS model, ensuring client-centered services and commitment to rapid job search and competitive employment.
  • Adheres to all funder requirements, including completing required funder reports.
  • Accepts referrals for supported employment services. Engages consumers and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in integrated job settings.
  • Carries out all phases of vocational service, including engagement, assessment, job search, and follow-along supports in the office and in the community.
  • Ensures that no eligibility requirements are expected for participation such as job readiness, lack of substance abuse, no history of violent behavior, intellectual functions, and mild symptoms.
  • Provides and ensures staff provide individualized, time unlimited follow along services to assist consumers in sustaining employment.
  • Provides education and support to employers, as agreed upon by the consumer, which may include negotiating job accommodations and follow along contact with the employer.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training and hiring staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance, providing coaching and development, addressing concerns and resolving problems, and managing employee timecards.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in mental health, social services, business, or vocational services required. Combination of education and experience in lieu of degree will be considered. At least one year of experience working with clients living with severe mental illness. Experience working with job readiness, job placements, and vocational services are needed. Supervisory experience required. Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with consumers, referrals sources, and other community providers is essential.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid IL driver’s license, personal vehicle needed for community travel.  This program requires that staff spend 60% of direct service time in the community participating in job development activities and to engage and support consumers, family members, and employers.
