To Families at Our Child and Family Development Center (Head Start, Early Head Start, and Child Care):
Pillars Community Health is actively monitoring the news and advisories concerning the coronavirus disease (also referred to as COVID-19). We have been following the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). On March 13, 2020, Governor Pritzker made an announcement that all schools in Illinois will close for at least two weeks. Pillars Community Health is closing the Child and Family Development Center to students the week of March 16, 2020. We anticipate a return to classes on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
We remain committed to continuing to provide educational opportunities throughout these next few weeks. As such, our staff will be working on developing online learning activities for children and families. Teachers will use Learning Genie and Creative Curriculum MTS to assign learning activities to families through the end of the week of March 16.
Situations such as this can bring about anxiety, stress, and uncertainty. We will continue to work to support our children and families to the best of our ability as we all navigate the possibility of challenges ahead. We encourage you to reach out to us at 708-PILLARS (708-745-5277) if you need assistance or support navigating these uncertain times. If you do not have a primary health provider, please let us know so that we can connect you with primary care services at our Health Center.
